#TipsyTuesday | July 4th Edition

Happy Independence Day! This is a day to celebrate the "greatness" of America but for most people it's an extra day to lounge around and enjoy life. Of course it wouldn't be a day of lounging if a cocktail wasn't in hand so I called up my gal pal Desi (she's featured in my Houston and Tulum posts) to help me come up with something special for you guys. She's the owner of Martini Genie, a mobile bar tending service in the Houston area. So let's get this party started!

Frozen Sangria Margarita (Sangarita)

Ingredients

Frozen Margarita

4 cups of ice

1/2 cup of tequila

1/4 cup of orange liqueur

1/4 cup of fresh lime juice

1 tablespoon of agave 

Frozen Sangria

4 cups of ice 

1/4 bottle red wine (chilled)

1/2 cup of fresh orange juice

1/4 cup of lemon juice ( 2 lemons) 

1 tablespoon of agave 

1 lime to cut for garnishment

Make It

Blend the margarita mixture, add ice to make thicker if needed, transfer mixture to the freezer as you make the sangria 

Blend the sangria mix, add ice to make thicker if necessary

Repeat alternate layer of margarita and sangria in a glass. Best served with straws to experience full taste.

The Firework

Ingredients

3 ounces of Tropicana Strawberry Peach drink 

1 1/2oz of bourbon 

1/2 ox of lime juice

Ginger beer

Fresh raspberries and strawberries for garnish

Make It

Combine the Tropicana Strawberry Peach drink, bourbon, and lime juice

Add ice 

Top with ginger beer 

Garnish with fresh raspberries and blueberries

The Firecracker Cocktail

This patriotic themed drink is sure to be a hit for your 4th of July festivities. It takes a little science and patience but will be well worth the wait.

Ingredients

2oz of sweetened cranberry juice (do not use unsweetened or artificially sweetened cranberry juice)

10z Blue curacao liqueur 

1 1/2oz Raspberry flavored vodka 

2 oz Club soda 

Maraschino cherry for garnish

Make It

Pour cranberry juice into a tall cocktail glass, then fill to the top with ice.

Place a spoon with the bowl facing down against the side of the glass and slowly pour in the blue curacao over the back of the spoon. This is to help construct the layers. 

Repeat same steps with vodka and club soda 

Garnish with cherry and serve immediately
